Director Aaliyah Prescott with researcher David Karlovac.

Prescott: David! How is 38813 coming along?

David: It's… it's interesting.

Prescott: Oh? Elaborate.

David: Well, we've hypothesized that it must have been accessing the SCP notes from a computer in the next room, but removing that computer hasn't erased the data, it's retaining copies. We've attempted to mount it as a drive to verify this, but it won't communicate over USB at all. We tried some of the remote phreaking tools, and they all basically think it's an inert lump. No electronic activity at all.

Prescott: Sounds delightfully secure, actually. Have you managed to add data selectively?

David: Possibly. We've seeded devices nearby with some synthetic data, but right now it only seems to want SCP articles.

Prescott: And it retains the new ones you give it?

David: Yes. We managed to fool it with a couple of old recipes formatted like skips, but it's stopped copying any more.

Prescott: You mean, it's selecting what it's copying?

David: Seems like it, but we don't have any more proof. We don't want to actually show it any more actual skips yet, don't know what it would do with them. The bigger problem is it might have more than we do.

Prescott: More… SCPs?

David: Yes. We're not sure where they come from. We're hampered by the need to decipher them manually, but we believe one of the entries may have been… well, it may have been ahead of us actually writing it.

Prescott: You mean it had an article before we wrote it?

David: Yes. Again, we're not sure, we observed the entry beforehand, but did not get around to decoding it until after the real article existed.

Prescott: Our data, from the future?

David: I'll caution, we cannot tell if any of the other anomalous entries are the same thing. They could just as likely be gibberish, or articles from some parallel dimension.

Prescott: But if they were from our future…

David: There is one more group. Some of the anomalous entries are about itself.

Prescott: It's writing new articles about itself?

David: Yes. Um, and this one is already there.

Prescott: The conversation we're having now?

David is visibly distressed.

David: …yes. I… it doesn't… I'm not following its script, these are just the things it makes sense to say,

Prescott: Are you saying it already has a transcript of everything I'm saying now?

David: To the letter, yes.

Prescott: Computer, stop transcription
